Woods Lake is a popular fishing destination for Tasmanians located in the central highlands of Tasmania, close to Poatina. Fishing is popular from the shore and also from boats. There are a number of bush camping locations around Woods Lake foreshore. You access Woods Lake from signs off Arthur's Lake Road, which in turn is signposted from the B51 highways some 4.5 kilometres north of the junction of the A5 and B51. Woods Lake foreshore is located 12 kilometres south east from the Arthurs Lake Road turnoff. Please note the road is quite rough and can be difficult to pass so a 4WD is recommended. From late spring Woods Lake provides good fishing for anglers of all abilities. Prior to hatches starting, most of the time spent on the water comprises of nymph and wet fly fishing. It is recommended you carry a portable or chemical toilet and a gas/fuel stove. Please note, camping is only allowed in designated areas and the only facilities are toilets. To camp Woods Lake you must be fully self-sufficient. No Toilets, no water or firewood, and no dogs allowed. Maximum stay 7 days only Great sites along lakefront past boat ramp towards dam wall but no facilities. Beautiful part of Tasmania and has great fishing.
