The campground at Boltons Green Cockle Creek is the only one in this area that is inside the Southwest National Park, and where you will need a Tasmanian National Parks Pass to camp. There is no cost to camp in addition to the purchase of a relevant pass. The campground is signposted and begins not far after you cross the bridge near the carpark and visitor centre. The campsite Boltons Green is suitable for tent camping and smaller vehicles such as campervans, rooftop tents and camper trailers and where camping is available on the right and left hand side of the narrow sandy beach road. The closest shops in this area are at Hastings Caves Cafe and Southport Tavern which is app. 20km north of Cockle Creek. Food, accommodation, petrol and other services are available 35 km to the north in the small coastal town of Dover (IGA Supermarket) – if you are planning to spend a few days camping at Cockle Creek, make sure you have all the supplies you need. Recherche Bay State Recreation Area provides campgrounds with toilets but no firewood or water at Finns Beach, Gillams Beach, Catamaran Campground and Ramsgate Campground . . Dogs and generators are NOT permitted in the Boltons Green Campground. To access Boltons Green Campground, proceed to the waypoint at the junction of Huon Highway and Hastings Caves Road. Turn onto Hastings Caves Road and continue for ~ 30km via Lune River Road to the campground. There is some 15km of dirt road after Lune River – please drive slowly and to the conditions noting the road is narrow in parts and can be slippery after heavy rain.
The only facility at Boltons Green is a basic pit toilet, however there is also a Telstra public telephone.
