There is signposted access to the Gillams Beach campground off the Cockle Creek Road, located just over 14 kilometres south of the Ida Bay Railway. The campground Gillams Beach is suitable for campervans, caravans, and motorhomes, and dogs are allowed. Gillams Beach is app. 250m in length and is a typically reflective beach bordered by low rocky points and the road behind. Across the road is via a clearing with a camping area and toilets. Gillams Beach lies on the southern side of a 100 m long tree-covered rocky point with a few houses right behind. This lovely free camping area has a maximum stay of 30 days and is suitable for all camping options including big rigs. It is large, open, and grassy with shady trees surrounding the edge of the campsites. It is located opposite the beach with a road in between; please note there are no facilities here other than a toilet. The Recherche Bay State Recreation area has campsites with toilets but there is no firewood or water at Gillams Beach, Finns Beach, and Catamaran River. Water is available nearby at Fords Green or from the D'Entrecastreaux River. Dogs and generators are permitted in the Recherche bay State Recreation Area. Recherche Bay State Recreation Area offers campsites with toilets but without firewood or water at Gillams Beach, Finns Beach, and Catamaran River. Cockle Creek has a larger camping area near Rocky Bay. Water is available nearby at Fords Green or from the D'Entrecastreaux River. Dogs and generators are permitted in the Recherche Bay Recreation Area, but not inside the Southwest National Park.
