This great free campground is located south of the East Coast tourist and fishing town of St Helens, on the North East Coast of Tasmania. There are 2 distinct camping areas; access to the campgrounds is off the A3 with the campground signposted. App. 500 metres along a good gravel road you will come to a fork with the road to the left leading to a day-use and camping area best suited to larger vehicles. If you turn right, you will find smaller camping areas better suited to tent camping, small campers, campervans, and camper trailers. Pets are OK if kept under control and on a lead at all times, however, they are not allowed on beaches. Please follow the clearly marked signs. Fishing is a popular activity at Dianas Basin campground; as it boating, canoeing and kayaking. The St Helens Point Conservation Area is a 1060+ hectare reserve located on the southern side of Georges Bay and encompassing St Helens Point where this campground is located. This part of Tassie has great fishing, paddling, walking, nature, wildlife, and birdwatching options plus surfing and swimming at nearby Beerbarrel Beach.
