Due to misuse of the camping area, this campground is now permanently closed effective August 2019.

An alternative camping area will open at nearby Sisters Beach in the near future.

Boat Harbour free camping, awesome free campground right on the beach at stunning Boat Harbour with excellent facilities and million-dollar views. Boat Harbour has been voted one of Australia's top 10 beaches, with this small seaside town just a 10-min drive from Wynyard or a 30-min drive from Burnie. The road into Boat Harbour from the highway is narrow, twisty and has steep drop-offs so please take extreme care, especially when towing big rigs. At Boat Harbour you will find a quiet bay with pure white sands and crystal clear water suitable for swimming. The Boat Harbour area has two small population centres, being the town which is high above sea level, and the small beach community below, nestled between rocky headlands and where you will find this fabulous free camping area. Please note TENT camping or camping in cars is not permitted. At the Beach Harbour free camping area, you will find toilets with disabled facilities, a playground, picnic tables and a barbecue. The future of this area is unclear, given local residents are opposed to camping in the area and given the camping area is treated with contempt and disrespect by some campers.
