The Big Eel camping area at Temma on the Far North West Coast of Tasmania is close to Arthur River and is suitable for 4WD camping only, and experienced off road enthusiasts. To access the Big Eel camping area at Temma, a recreational driver pass is required, and that includes the cost of camping. Camping is inclusive for the driver plus one additional adult – extra persons incur additional camping fees. You must obtain your permit from the Tasmanian National Parks & Wildlife Office Arthur River, and that can be contacted on (03) 6457 1225. The Big Eel camping area at Temma is accessible to motorbikes, camper trailers and four wheel drive vehicles only – it is not suitable for caravans or motorhomes. Camping in tents is permitted, as are dogs but they must be kept on a lead and under control at all times. All campsites are unpowered and there are no facilities, so your must be fully self-contained (water, food, power etc,.) Please take all rubbish away with you and leave no trace. The Big Eel Camping Area Temma is near Big Eel and Little Eel Creeks. Please also note there is generally no mobile telephone reception in this area. The Sandy Cape 4WD Track is a popular activity in this area for experienced 4WD enthusiasts.
A 1-month pass is $33, an annual pass $55.
