Thureau Hills camping area is signposted along the A10 highways, app. 15 kilometres to the east of Queenstown. Travel a further 3.5 kilometres south until you find hte camping area, where you will find tent based camping spots (limited) that are suitable to camper trailers, vans, caravans, motorhomes and campervans.

Please make suer you carry your own water and firewood as facilities at Thureau Hills campground are limited.

A concrete boat ramp is located at Thureau Hills. The formal camping area, caravan park and boat ramp are located on the eastern side of the bridge. Boat launching and informal camping is also available near the Darwin Dam at the southern end of the lake.

Anglers or other people using this area are encouraged to bring portable toilets or be sure to walk at least 100 metres from the water, dig a 15-centimetre hole and bury all waste including toilet paper.

Lake Burbury is one of the larger hydro lakes on the West Coast and is highly regarded by many anglers as one of the best fishing trout spots in Tasmania. Lake Burbury is within close proximity to the township of Queenstown where fishing licenses can be purchased.
