Macquarie Heads is located at the Northern end of Macquarie Harbour, Stahan West Coast Tasmania.

To reach Macquarie Heads camping area, leave Strahan on the Ocean Road and travel a distance of approximately 4 kilometres. Turn left onto the C251. As you travel on this road, you will pass the Swan Basin Picnic Area after travelling a distance of app.7 kilometres. The campground at Macquarie Heads is 11 kilometres down this road.

The campsite Macquarie Heads is reasonably large and has good shady, grassed sites next to the harbour. There is a resident caretaker on site, and this campground is suitable for caravans, campervans and motorhomes.

Strahan is located almost 300 kilometres nort- west of Hobart and 41 km from Queenstown on the edge of Macquarie Harbour. It is the last outpost of civilisation on the west coast of Tasmania.
