The free overnight roadside stop camping area at Campbell Town in Central Tasmania is a great place to stop. And whilst there are no facilities at the stop itself, it is only a very short walk to all services including toilets, a supermarket, cafes, newsagent and a local pub that serves great counter meals. This is a large grassed area that is capable of accommodating many caravans, campervans, motorhomes, and big rigs. Please note tent based camping is strictly not allowed, and the area is monitored by the local council. Campbell Town is a small town in Tasmania, Australia, on the Midland Highway that connects Launceston in the North and the state capital Hobart. As at the 2006 census, the town had a population of less than 800 permanent residents. The Red Bridge in Tasmania crosses the Elizabeth River at Campbell Town and was built in 1838 using convict labour. It is the oldest surviving brick arch bridge in Australia as well as the oldest bridge anywhere on the Midlands Highway. Over two million vehicles per year cross Red Bridge.
