Camping Cape Pillar Bare Knoll

Listing Details

The Bare Knoll campsite, Cape Pillar in the Tasman National Park near Port Arthur in South East Tasmania is part of the Cape Pillar Walk. This is a 2 or 3 day return or circuit of some 30 km return via Old Cape Pillar track or 35km circuit via Mount Fortescue and Cape Hauy. This is considered a grade 3 bushwalk, necessitating that walkers have bushwalking experience. Tracks have short steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps. This campsite is in the Tasman National Park meaning you must have a valid Tasmanian National Parks Pass. There are no additional camping fees. Fires are not permitted, you must carry a fuel stove. The Bare Knoll campsite is app. 400m beyond the Wughalee Falls turnoff, and on the right hand side of track. Bare Knoll and Wughalee Falls campsites have 8 dedicated tent platforms each and a toilet. It is strongly recommend that you carry plenty of water with you as natural water sources are not reliably available. Please note that parts of the Cape Pillar walk and Bare Knoll campsite are shared with the multi-day Three Capes Track bushwalkers. There is cabin accommodation and facilities on the walk, but it is only available to persons who have booked and paid for the Three Capes Walk. Please note weather conditions can be extremely variable in this area, so make sure you are prepared for all weather conditions.
