The Jonah Bay camping area is located near Cowpaddock Bay at Arthurs Lake. To access, travel along Poatina Road and turn off at Gunns Marsh Road. Please note that the Jonah Bay camping area is closed during winter due to cold conditions making the facilities inoperable. Jonah Bay closes from the first week in May and re-opens on the last Saturday in July. This site is very much basic bush camping and campers need to be prepared as the conditions can be rugged and the facilities very basic. There is one Unisex chemical toilet - disabled access is available. There are no showers. Fires are permitted in the firepots provided, fires must not be lit during times of total or local fire bans. This is a paid campsite and you must book through the Bothwell Tourism Association, by calling 6259 4049. If there is no answer on this number you can call 0439 503 211 or 0439 202 436. If you are arriving late, there is a camper self-registration system where fees can be paid at the start of the campsite. This campsite is located next to Arthurs Lake, being a very popular trout fishing waterway in Tasmania and an operational hydropower and irrigation storage, meaning that water levels can change often and quickly. This site is suitable for smaller caravans, campervans, camp-trailers, and motorhomes. There are some permanent shacks and caravans at this location. Please note, camping is only allowed in designated areas and there are only basic facilities, including 1 chemical toilet. To camp in this area, you must be largely self-sufficient.
