Bothwell is a small town with a population of just over 300 people situated in central Tasmania on the River Clyde. It is well known for hunting, fishing, and being a lake district. It is part of the municipality of Central Highlands Council. Nearby towns include Ouse, Hamilton, and Kempton. Bothwell is well known for having one of the world’s oldest, best-preserved golf courses. Free camping Bothwell, if travelling from Hobart, the overnight camping area is located on the left-hand side of the road as you approach Bothwell. This camping area is very basic and offers no facilities whatsoever. It is suitable only for fully self-contained vehicles. It is a reasonably sized area, however, please note it isn’t that large and therefore quite close to the highway. And whilst this is not a very busy road, you will hear passing traffic. This camping area Bothwell is an alternative to the Bothwell Caravan Park. In the small town of Bothwell, you can purchase food, petrol, and other basic provisions – there is a hotel where you can purchase counter meals and alcohol.
