Stumpys Bay campsites are located on Tasmania's beautiful far North East (close to Bay of Fires Camping) The National Park boasts beautiful beaches, fishing opportunities diving, beach walks and swimming with care. It is common to see native wildlife at dawn and dusk including Wallabies, Forester Kangaroo, Echidnas, Black Cockatoos and Wombats. To access the North of the Mt William National Park, travel on the C845 road. From the small town of Gladstone, travel on the C843 in an easterly direction for 8 kilometres, before turning onto the C845 where you will travel for another 40 kilometres to the Anson's Bay Road. You then head West for 19 kilometres on the C845. Stumpys Bay Camping Area number 3 can be found by travelling 8 kilometres along Forester Kangaroo Drive and is signposted. Stumpys Bay Camping Area Number 3 is located 1 kilometre past campsite number 2. It is suited for tent camping, but also for small campervans. This campsite offers limited shade or protection from the elements, unlike Stumpys Bay numbers 1 and 2 which offer good protection. There is a boat ramp here (beach) and whilst bore water is also available, it is suitable only for washing so you must carry your own drinking water. Gas/fuel stoves are recommended. The Southern end of the Mt William National Park is where you will find the Eddystone Point Lighthouse, a must-see attraction on this rugged part of the North East tip of Tassie. The Mt William National Park Bay camping area offers a number of open sites, and also some with shelter. There is a boat ramp in the area, campgrounds are suitable for small vans only. Existing fire sites must be used; you must carry your own water & firewood. Pit toilets are located at each Stumpys campsite at Mt William, but there is no drinking water or power supply. Bore water is available for washing at Stumpys Bay Campgrounds 1 and 3, and at Deep Creek - boil water before drinking.
