Listing Details

This campsite is signposted along the Arthur River Road near the Ranger’s Station. It offers limited access for campervans, motorhomes, and caravans, but rather is perfectly suited to tent camping. Also in this area is the Prickly Wattle Campsite that is located just out of the Arthur River community. It features excellent secluded sites, with most serviced by river water (water must be boiled) and pit toilets. Fire drums are provided, however, wood should be used sparingly and any fire restrictions are often in place during warmer summer months. Things to do at Arthur River include Sailboarding, surfing, snorkelling, canoeing, 4wd trips, fishing; saltwater and freshwater (trout fishing), beachcombing, river cruises, rainforest walks. Or just relax and see native Tasmanian wildlife including Tasmanian Devils, wallabies, wombats, sea eagles, native birds. You can also visit the Tarkine wilderness, explore the remote coastline in the path of the roaring 40s, take an ecotour from Arthur River or take a trip into the nearby forest on a 4wd expedition. A cruise on the Arthur River is a must when staying in this area. The Arthur River flows through tall eucalypt forests and rainforests out to the sea. This campground in Arthur River has a barbeque, sites are on the small side but large rigs can find a camping spot at the neighbouring campgrounds of Manuka or Prickly Wattle. You must carry your own drinking water, or boil the water supplied before drinking. You can use collected driftwood for campfires. There is a ranger station at this location, and the Arthur River store where you can buy petrol, food and grab a coffee is immediately opposite the Peppermint Campground Arthur River. Dogs are OK but must be kept fully under control at all times. Arthur River is the name of both a river and a small township on the northern part of the West Coast of Tasmania, Australia. At the 2006 census, Arthur River and the surrounding area had a permanent population of just 121 people. The fishing is very good at Arthur River – Salmon from November to April and Trout in season. Mostly firm sand allows most vehicles to drive onto the beach to launch a boat or fish off the beach. Off shore islands interrupt the breaking waves, while rock pools are common and interesting.
