The Saddleback Plantation camping area is west of the small township of Mathinna. THis iste offers a large well grassed camp sites on the banks of the South Esk River. The campsites are accessed from the gravel road Griffin Park Road which is accessible off the C401 if travelling from the West or the C423 from the East.

Mathinna is located close to the small towns of Blessington and Fingal in north east Tasmania. Natural attractions include the Ben Lomond National Park and the South Esk River. The town is close to the Evercreech Forest Reserve which is worth a visit if you are in this area. Griffin Camping Area is app. 10 kilometres north west of the town within the Fingal Forests.

The area offers camping, picnic area, barbecue facilities, swimming and fishing are popular recreational activities in the nearby waters. Mathinna Falls is app. 10 kilometres to the north of Mathinna. The magnificent four-tier falls themselves are within the Fingal Forests, and can be reached by a 20 minute walk from the car park.

The area is popular with bushwalkers and swimming, and picnic facilities are available.
