camping lake pedder - huon campground

The Huon Campground Lake Pedder, Strathgordon Southwest National Park Tasmania offers free camping with basic facilities in one of the most picturesque parts of Tasmania. The Huon campground is suitable for smaller rigs such as small caravans, camper trailers, caravans and tent based camping. There is also a day-use picnic area with shelter. Water is available; however it must be treated before drinking. There are basic composting toilets at the Huon Campground. The Huon camping area is not very large, and has 10 campsites only. Each campsite has a firepot, and wood is provided at the Huon Campground. Dogs are strictly prohibited and the area is patrolled by a Ranger. A valid National Parks Pass is required, and must be clearly displayed. The area is patrolled by Rangers and fines may be issued if you don't have a valid pass. This is a truly spectacular part of Tasmania, with stunning scenery, however, please note that the weather conditions at Lake Pedder can be very changeable and very harsh at any time of the year, but particular so during Winter. The Huon Campground is immediately adjacent to the carpark for the start of the Port Davey Track.
