camping fortescue bay
The campground at Fortescue Bay can be accessed by car, however please note the gravel road leading to the campground is unsealed and can be very rough at times. There are app. 40 campsites at the Fortescue Bay camping area. There are two separate campsites at Fortescue Bay and bookings are required - Mill Creek and Banksia. These campgrounds at Fortescue are also suitable for campervan, camper trailers and caravans. The campsite features a shower block, toilets and barbeques - there is also a boat ramp. Fireplaces are provided; wood is available for sale and under no circumstances should wood be removed from trees. There is a rubbish collection area at Fortescue Bay; all rubbish should be placed in the rubbish facility in the day use area. There is a single hot shower provided at the Banksia campground, but please note it is often closed during dry summers when water is in short supply. There is a token operated timer; tokens can be purchased from the campground caretakers with a $2 token giving you a 4 minute shower. There is abundant wildlife inte area, however please do not feed native animals. Fortescue Bay has water taps in the Banksia and Mill Creek campgrounds and Day Use Area. The water is from a local creek and is un-treated. Boiling water for 3 minutes or sterilising via other means before consumption is recommended.

Bookings for the Fortescue Bay campground are essentail from the opening of the crayfish season at the beginning of November, until Easter each year. We also recommend making a booking at other times of the year just to be certain, as this campsite at Fortescue can get very busy and there are limited other camping options in this region.
